I was interested to see an article in The Daily Telegraph about how a temple which features in the 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie is to be restored by the National Trust. Unfortunately, the article doesn’t actually have a picture of the Temple of Apollo, at Stourhead in Wiltshire, but it does have one of Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.

80,000 pounds. I’m glad to see the past beautiful object restored, but cannot help regret the reverse (absurdist) reason for it. The owners of the huge mansion used for the 95 P&P would not let the crew and actors film inside, so I’ve read since they now make money letting tourists in, they’ve been reduced to redecorating to make part of their inside look like the film’s mise-en-scene.

I hadn’t realised there wasn’t any filming inside during the making of the film, Ellen – it does seem odd/ironic that they have now had to make part of the inside look like the film sets! I’m also glad the temple is being restored, though. Judy
